Marvin Appel

Dr. Marvin Appel is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Singalert Asset Management LLC, formed by the combination of Signalert Corporation and Appel Asset Management Corporation, investment advisory firms located in Great Neck, New York. Dr. Appel is widely respected in the financial field as a technical analyst of the stock market. He appears on radio and TV, speaks at financial seminars, and is invited to appear at gatherings such as the American Association of Individual Investors and the New York State Senate Forecasting Conference in Albany.

A former anesthesiologist and medical doctor, Dr. Appel received A.B. (biochemistry), M.S. (applied mathematics) and PH.D. (biomedical engineering) degrees from Harvard University and owns a patent having to do with his data analysis work done at MIT. His work has been published and presented at national and international scientific conferences. He is the author of three books on investing (plus mini-e-books) including his latest "Higher Returns from Safe Investments" and "Writing Covered Calls".

Gerald Appel

Gerald Appel is the Chairman of Signalert Asset Management LLC. He was the founder and president of Signalert Corporation, and the president of Appel Asset Corporation, an affiliated company founded by his son Dr. Marvin Appel. Gerald Appel is the inventor of MACD, the Moving Average Convergence/Divergence indicator that is widely used in technical analysis software and on financial internet websites.

He is the author of twelve books on investing and market timing. Two of his books were designated “Investment Book of the Year” by The Stock Trader’s Almanac.  His most recent works, published by Prentice Hall, are “Technical Analysis, Power Tools for Active Investors”, “Opportunity Investing”, “Beating the Market, 3 Months at a Time,” and “Win with Proven Stock Selection and Market Timing Strategies.”

Mr. Appel has written numerous articles for publications such as Stocks & Commodities Magazine, the Journal of Wealth Management, Smart Money, Money Magazine and Barron’s.  He has been interviewed for TheStreet.com’s Personal Finance column,and by numerous publications over the years including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Futures Magazine, Forbes, The Commodity Trader’s Consumer Report, Timer Digest, and The Hulbert Financial Digest. He appeared on Wall $treet Week With Louis Rukeyser and has been a guest on numerous financial radio networks. Gerald Appel is a former practicing psychoanalyst, and an award-winning photographer.

Glenn Gortler

The head of research and analysis for Signalert, Glenn Gortler selects many of the securities featured in Systems & Forecasts. He has a twenty-three year career in financial management. He employs statistical modeling to find, investigate, rank and rate strong stocks, bonds and mutual funds to be utilized in the newsletter as well as in client portfolios. Mr. Gortler develops and refines timing models that influence buy and sell decisions. He analyzes risk and potential drawdown for the investments he recommends.
